Lucknow: A farmer has been shot dead in Chandinagar police station area of UP's Baghpat. At that time the farmer was guarding the okra crop in the field. When the family members went to work in the field in the morning, the blood-soaked body of the farmer was found on the cot. Three empty boxes and a live cartridge were also found near the body. There is panic in the village and among family members after the incident. 

The name of the deceased farmer is said to be Madan. Madan, 67, was a resident of Mansoorpur village under Chandinagar police station. He had sown the okra crop in the field, which he used to go to sleep in the field every night to guard. On Thursday night also, he had gone to the farm to guard the crop. At some point in the night, unidentified assailants shot Madan, who was sleeping on a cot, in the head and killed him. The farmers of the village, who reached the farm in the morning, saw the blood-soaked bodies lying there and informed the family members and the police.

During police interrogation, the son of the deceased farmer has said that he had come to the field to guard the night and when he came in the morning, his body was found lying on the cot. We didn't even have a mutual enmity with anyone. SP Baghpat Neeraj Jadoon said that three empty kiosks and one live cartridge were also seized from near the body. The body has been sent for postmortem. A case has been registered against the unidentified assailants and a search is on for them.
