Yumna Prasad Paneru, a resident of Padampur Meador in Okhalkanda block and currently a resident of Goralpada in Haldwani, has been reported to have been martyred in Kupwara on Thursday night. According to the information, while rescuing his team on the snow-covered peaks here, he fell into the ditch and died. Martyr's younger brother Bhuvan Paneru said that his elder brother Yamuna Prasad Paneru was in the six Kumaon in 2001. Early years of Subedar Yamuna Paneru was spent in the village of Galkapadhura of Padampur Meador. After studying up to eighth from upper primary school, Meador, he completed his 9th and tenth from SMSD school, Kankhal Haridwar.

After passing the intermediate examination from Hariram Inter College, DAV enrolled in BSC in Dehradun. Selected for the Indian Army during the first year of BSc. Bhuvan Paneru also gave information about Yamuna Parganai's conquest of Everest in 2012. He also touched Nandadevi and  Kailash. He also spent some time in Darjeeling to teach mountaineering. After taking out the commission of JCO, he was appointed as Subedar. In 2013/14 he also went to Bhutan on behalf of Indian Army and after coming from there, took out the commission of JCO. 

Subedar Yamuna Paneru gave his life for the country at the age of 37, while serving in the army with indomitable courage. He has a son Yash (07 years) and daughter, wife, mother Maheshwari Devi, elder brother Chandra Prakash Paneru, younger brother Bhuvan and sister-in-law, including nephews-brother-in-law. Martyr's father Dayakrishna Paneru's already passed away. The martyr's family lives in Goradpada, Haldwani. There is a wave of mourning among the villagers as soon as the news of Yamuna Prasad Paneru's martyrdom reached on Thursday. People are seen paying tribute to him on social media.
