Top Vaccine manufacturer Pfizer said that it will meet the United States health officials to discuss the possibility of a third Covid-19 vaccine booster shot. The vaccine maker has already requested the authorisation of a booster shot. The company is set meet the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and other health officials.

Pfizer has reportedly said that booster shots will be required within 12 months of the second shot of the vaccine. Fauci on Sunday said that there was a possibility that a third shot will be needed but this could only be confirmed after research studies.

According to reports, Dr Anthony Fauci, chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden has accepted that “it is entirely conceivable, maybe likely” that booster shots will be needed. Fauci said that it was inexplicable that some people were refusing to take the vaccine despite the data showing the effectiveness of the jabs.

Currently, 48 percent of the US population has been fully vaccinated. Areas that have seen low inoculations are reporting a surge in Covid-19 cases.
