Coimbatore: A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. According to the information received, the culprit Ratnam Mettupalayam stopped the girl playing in the field and then sexually abused her by showing her obscene videos. The case dates back to March, but it came to light when on April 22, the girl told the doctor about the incident that happened to her at a medical camp held in the school. The doctor then reported it to the girl's family. Following this a complaint, in this case, was lodged against the culprit at the Dudialur police station.
Police have registered a case against the accused Ratnam under the POCSO Act and arrested him. The culprit is currently being interrogated. Earlier, a 35-year-old priest of a church was arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting a minor girl in Pathanamthitta in Kerala. According to the report, the girl was taken to the priest for counselling as she lost focus from her studies and some people said that he could help in this.
At the same time, the police said that the criminal misbehaved with the girl twice at two different places. The first incident took place at the girl's house, where the priest took her inside a room and closed the door and abused her. However, the girl did not tell anyone about it. Thereafter, the pastor called the young woman to his residence, where he sexually abused her. After the second incident, the girl told a friend about it, who informed the school officials. The school administration lodged a complaint on childline, through which the police were informed and the priest was arrested.
