New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating the likelihood of heavy-to-very heavy rainfall continuing in Mumbai over the next 24 hours. The city experienced heavy rains on Friday as well, leading to waterlogging in various areas and causing disruptions in vehicular traffic.

Today, extremely heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan, Goa, ghat areas of Central Maharashtra, and Gujarat. This weather pattern is attributed to a low-pressure area over south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh, alongside the adjoining northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal. On Sunday, coastal and south interior Karnataka, and on Tuesday, coastal Andhra Pradesh, are expected to receive very heavy rainfall.

Additionally, a cyclonic circulation lying over south Chhattisgarh and its neighboring regions is likely to cause light-to-moderate fairly widespread showers in Kerala, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana in the upcoming five days. Similar weather conditions are expected in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat for the next two days, followed by a decrease in intensity thereafter.

The weather forecast predicts squally weather with wind speeds of 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph over Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, central Bay of Bengal, south Bay of Bengal, and the south Sri Lanka coast today.

Moreover, squally weather with wind speeds of 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is expected over Maharashtra, north Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Gulf of Mannar, south Tamil Nadu coast, southwest Arabian Sea, and central Arabian Sea today.

On Monday, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts. Under its influence, heavy-to-very heavy rainfall is forecast over Odisha on Tuesday and isolated heavy rainfall over sub-Himalaya West Bengal, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Saturday to Monday.

As for the northeast region, light to moderate fairly widespread rain is expected, with isolated heavy rainfall likely in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura today and on Sunday. Assam and Meghalaya may experience isolated heavy rainfall from Saturday to Tuesday, while Arunachal Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rainfall during Sunday to Tuesday.

Furthermore, isolated places in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi could experience heavy to very heavy rainfall today.
