Indore: Indore Zonal Unit of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has caught a huge consignment of ganja. Taking action in the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday, a total of 392.79 kg of ganja has been seized from the truck coming from Maharashtra towards Indore. According to the DRI, this action has been taken after receiving intelligence. Ganja was to be sent to other states from Maharashtra via Indore. After this, the DRI laid a trap on the Maharashtra route.

According to the department, a cargo truck carrying CNG gas cylinders was found to have hidden a large quantity of ganja. After a thorough search of this fully covered truck, packets of ganja hidden between the cylinders were found. The truck driver, during initial interrogation, confessed that he was aware of the possession of ganja. The driver was arrested under the NDPS Act and presented in the court. Taking remand, the DRI is interrogating to reach the smuggling gang.

Let us inform that in the current financial year, the Indore Zonal Unit of DRI has so far recovered about 6,300 kg of ganja. Along with this, 58 kg foreign origin gold and 4,545 kg foreign origin silver have also been recovered by DRI Indore. The DRI has also seized 8 lakh smuggled cigarettes and Rs 4 crore in cash.
