Jaipur: A father troubled by financial constraints in Rajasthan did such a thing that your heart will also burst. The man, a resident of the Jalore district, dumped his 11-month-old son in the canal. He then came home and lied to his wife that he had left the child at his father's (child's grandfather)'s house. Police have arrested the accused Mukesh Berwal, a resident of Gujarat, and the body of the child has been recovered.

Sanchore police station in-charge Praveen Kumar said, "The couple wanted to give their son a good life, but Mukesh was barely earning anything. He was not even able to feed his son, so he decided to kill him. He was aware of the Narmada canal in Jalore, about 50 km from his home in Gujarat. He decided to throw his son in the river itself.'' The SHO has said that he lied to his wife and that his father lives in a village in Sanchore and he left Rajveer with them. Police further said "Mukesh asked his wife to wait for him at a place near the canal, in the meantime he would drop Rajveer at his father's house and come back. He told Usha that since they had an inter-caste marriage, his father would not accept her (wife).''

Praveen Kumar said Berwal threw his son into the canal 150-200 metres from the spot where his wife was waiting. He returned to Usha and told her that Rajveer was now with his father. However, a local, who had seen Berwal throwing the child into the canal, caught hold of him and handed him over to the police. During interrogation, Berwal confessed to his crime. He has been arrested. Meanwhile, a rescue operation was launched and divers launched a search for the child. The body of the innocent was recovered on Friday. Who was handed over to his mother.
