New Delhi: Congress Working Committee is scheduled to meet at the party headquarters in Delhi on August 10. Congress General Secretary-in-charge (Organisation) Casey Venugopal has confirmed this. There are speculations that the meeting is likely to brainstorm on the new Congress president. All eyes are on the Congress meeting, which is expected to decide on the party's next national president.

According to news agency IANS, amid the ongoing infighting in the Congress, Rahul Gandhi is adamant that no member of his family will become the next president of the party, while his sister Priyanka Vadra is raising its demand for the party to be the president. Amid the ongoing tussle between senior and young party leaders, the Congress remains unleaded.

Several Congress leaders are standing firmly in favour of making Priyanka Vadra, the party's national general secretary, as party chief, while a section of young leaders is supporting Rahul Gandhi's statement. Rahul Gandhi may be against the appointment of a family member as president, but priyanka's dharna at Sonbhadra has won the hearts of many outside the party and the party. Sonia Gandhi's close quarters believe that after Priyanka's intervention in Uttar Pradesh, the party has found a winner, but it is not acceptable to Rahul.
