UJJAIN: Indian cricket team-star KL Rahul, accompanied by his parents, embarked on a spiritual journey today as they visited the revered Mahakaleshwar temple nestled in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, ahead of the much-anticipated IPL 2024 season.

The highlight of their visit was the participation in the time-honored 'Bhasma Aarti' ceremony, steeped in tradition and spirituality, which commenced at the break of dawn around 6 am.

After the soul-stirring ceremony, KL Rahul proceeded to the inner sanctum of the temple to offer his heartfelt prayers to Lord Mahakal, seeking divine blessings not only for himself but also for his beloved family. The rituals were meticulously conducted by the temple priest, Ashish Pujari, who also presented sacred garlands as Prasad to Rahul and his parents.

Preferring to maintain a low profile, Rahul chose not to engage with the media present at the temple premises and quietly departed post the prayer session.

The 'Bhasma Aarti' holds immense significance, being conducted during the auspicious 'Brahma Muhurta' between 3:30 to 5:30 in the morning, with devotees believing it to be instrumental in fulfilling their deepest desires.

This visit to the Mahakaleshwar temple comes amidst Rahul's recovery phase from an injury that sidelined him from recent cricketing engagements, including the fifth and final Test match against England in Dharamshala.

It's reminiscent of the visit made by another cricketing icon, Virat Kohli, and his wife Anushka Sharma, in March 2023. The power couple had graced the temple to partake in the sacred Bhasma Aarti ceremony following the conclusion of a riveting Test match between India and Australia.

Anushka's graceful presence in a pale pink saree complemented Kohli's traditional dhoti attire, capturing the admiration of fans. Post-Aarti, they spent serene moments within the temple premises, proceeding to perform the Jalabhishek ritual as a symbol of reverence.

Speaking to the media afterward, Anushka Sharma conveyed their purpose behind the visit, emphasizing their profound gratitude for the enriching experience and the opportunity to seek divine blessings.
