Chandigarh: A case of robbery in Punjab National Bank (PNB) has come to light in Karnal district of Haryana on Wednesday. It is being told that the crooks entered the bank by making a tunnel from under the back wall of the PNB bank located in Kohand village under Gharaunda town, but could not break the strong room. As soon as the information was received, Gharaunda SHO reached the spot along with the police force.

CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding area are being scrutinized to trace the miscreants. At present, a case has been registered against unknown miscreants. According to the bank manager Kuldeep Kumar, when the shutter of the bank opened, seeing the scene, the ground slipped under everyone's feet. There was a breach in the wall and an attempt was made to break into the strong room. After which the police was informed immediately. However, the bank's cash and documents are safe.

According to media reports, SHO Inspector Deepak told that information about the attempted robbery was received from the bank manager. CCTVs are installed in the entire bank, but there were no CCTVs in the back side where the tunnel was made, so the CCTVs installed around the bank are being scanned. The matter is being investigated.
