Egypt's journey in the FIFA World Cup ended a very disappointing way. In the last league match played in Group A, they suffered a loss by 1-2 against Saudi Arabia, from which they remained out of the FIFA 2018. Both goals were made in the first and second half innings time by Saudi Arabia.

In the first half, Saudi Arabia retained possession of the ball for a long time, but Star Striker Muhammad gave the initial edge to Egypt. In the second half, Egypt scored many opportunities. Salah also got many opportunities to score goals but he could not give the edge to his team. On the outskirts of Abdullah Otte, Salem al-Davsari scored a goal to make Saudi Arabia rise to a 2-1 lead, which remained till the end.
