After visiting Queen Elizabeth's funeral in the UK last week, which took place on September 19, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have finally made their way back to the US and settled into their California residence. When doctors expressed concern about the Queen's health while they were on a working trip to the UK and Germany, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hurried to her side.

Harry and other family members hurried to the Queen's Balmoral Estate to be by her side. On September 8, Queen Elizabeth passed away in Scotland at the age of 96. Prince Harry and Prince William, along with Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, presented a unified front as they met mourners outside Windsor Castle following the demise of their grandmother. In a trying period, the two couples got together for the first time in two years.

Both the Queen's funeral banquet at Westminster Hall in London on September 14 and the late monarch's memorial service at Westminster Abbey on September 19 were also attended by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. During the funeral procession, Prince Harry accompanied Prince William behind the Queen's casket.

In a heartfelt statement regarding the demise of his grandmother, the Duke of Sussex said, "Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings — from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren."
