Sharjah Masters: Gukesh beats Armenia's Hac to take lead

India's D Gukesh notched up his second successive win on the first board in the sixth round of the Sharjah Masters to grab the joint lead. In the 5th round, Gukesh will face young Grandmaster Martirosyan Hac of Armenia, who defeated World Women's Chess Champion Xu Wenjun, with black pieces. Using his pieces carefully, Gukesh proved his endgame ability as he won the match which lasted 74 moves and now he has joined the joint lead with 4.5 points. 

Gukesh is joined by two other players, Savian Samuel and Oparin Grigroy of USA, on 4.5 points each after defeating Australia's Teymur Kuybokarov and USA's Niemann Hans Moke respectively.

Let us inform that among other Indian players, Nihal Sarin drew with China's Yu Yangyi, Pragyananda against Ukraine's Anton Korobov, Aryan Chopra against Russia's Andrey Asipenko, Arjun Arigasi against Armenia's Sargsyan Shant and Vidit Gujarati against Sanal Wahap. played while Adhiban Bhaskaran, Abhimanyu Puranic, Murali Karthikeyan and SP Sethuraman defeated Rodrigo Vasquez of Chile, Peter Aks of Hungary, Vitaliy Brandisky of Ukraine and Mikhail Kobalya of Russia respectively.
