Hitman Rohit Sharma is gearing up for the two-match T20I series against Australia and in this series he can make a new record. Rohit is just two sixes away from surpassing New Zealand’s Martin Guptill and Windies opener Chris Gayle record of hitting the maximum sixes in the shortest format of the game.

Indian opener will equal Guptill and Gayle’s record with one six but will break their record if he manages to hit a couple of big ones in the two-match T20I series against the Aussies, which starts from Sunday.

Guptill and Gayle have 103 sixes each while Rohit has 102 sixes under his belt in the T20I format of the game. Interestingly, in international cricket, only Guptill, Gayle and Rohit have more than 100 sixes in the shortest format.

Meanwhile, India is all set to host Australia for the T20I series in Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru respectively and will then play a five-match ODI series against the visitors as the last preparatory stop ahead of the 2019 World Cup. Earlier, India had completed a historic double against Australia as they defeated the Aussies in both Test and ODI series. After the two-match T20I series, India will play the first ODI against Australia at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
