New Delhi: The fifth and final Test between India and England to be played at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester from Friday has been canceled. The board has taken this decision so that the case of corona infection does not increase further in the series. India was leading the series 2-1 till the fourth Test. And thus Team India won the 5 Test match series by 2-1.

The England Cricket Board also confirmed the cancellation of the fifth Test, saying, "After the ongoing talks with the BCCI, ECB confirms that the fifth Test between the men of England and India starting today at Emirates Old Trafford has been canceled. India is unable to field a team due to fears of a further increase in the number of corona cases.'' A meeting between BCCI officials was underway on Friday to discuss the possibilities of adjournment and how many days it would be postponed, but then later it was decided to cancel the fifth Test.

Earlier, Dinesh Karthik had also talked about not playing the fifth Test from Friday. He tweeted that there will be no games today. "No Play Today, OK Tata, bye-bye," he wrote.
