Palamu: A 25-year-old man was arrested and sent to jail by the police for allegedly assaulting his widowed sister-in-law at her house in Medininagar in Palamu district of Jharkhand on Monday. A police officer has reported it. The culprit was produced before a local court from where he was remanded in judicial custody. Police said the man was drunk and also committed a major rape on Sunday night against his 22-year-old sister-in-law.The police said that the man was drunk.

Police also said that the victim's husband had died three years ago and no one was present at her house at the time of the incident. Police said a case was registered on Monday based on the statement of the victim and the culprit was immediately arrested. The victim has been sent to the hospital for medical checkup.

On the other hand, four persons were crushed to death by a wild elephant in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Two women were among the dead. In three different incidents, elephants killed four persons. Forest department officials reported on Monday. The case is from Hazaribagh and Singhbhum districts. Two women from Kupa village in Katkumdag forest area of Hazaribagh district were trampled by elephants. Forest department west DFO R N Mishra said the two had left in the morning to fetch wood towards the forest. This led to the elephant crushing both of them. Both the women are said to be about fifty years old.
