NIA arrests 4 more accused in Kerala gold smuggling case

New Delhi: NIA has arrested 4 more people in Kerala gold smuggling case. These people had provided the wealth for smuggling gold through import cargo sent to the UAE consul of Thiruvananthapuram and it was conspired with other accused. NIA spokesperson said in this regard that Gifsal CV and Muhammad Abu Shamim, residents of Kozhikode, Abubakar P. of Malappuram and Abdul Hameed PM have been arrested on Monday.

The officer said that on Wednesday, the residences of the accused were searched in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. Also searched are Abubakar's Malabar Jewelery, Hameed's Amin Gold in Malappuram and Ambi Jewelery owned by Shamsuddin in Kozhikode. Many equipment and objectionable documents have been seized in the search. So far, the NIA has charged twenty-five in this case, out of which twenty have been arrested.

On the other hand, opposition parties of the state have gathered about the fire in the secretariat. On Wednesday, demonstrations were held in many places across the state. The police took help of water splashes and tear gas to chase the protesters. The Congress-led UDF and BJP have demanded the NIA to conduct a fire investigation. A fire broke out in the General Administration Department on Tuesday. In the police FIR, some files related to booking in the government guest house have been told about the damaged.
