In Punjab, a Nihang was strangled to death by his accomplice in Tarantaran. Which has also been reported to the police. Police who reached the spot registered a case of murder against accused Nihang Surjit Singh Sakhira and detained him.

It has been learnt that the son was born in the house of Nihang Gidar Singh (43), a resident of Survid village in The Assembly Halka Khemkaran. It was with this joy that he invited the Nihang Singhs to his house. On Thursday night, a fight broke out between Nihang Karmajit Singh (19) son Surinder Singh resident village Lamma and Surjit Singh's son Mehtab Singh resident village Sakhira over something.

The dispute between the two was resolved by the Nihang Singhs. On Friday morning, Karmajit was preparing to tie his hair and decorate the gloves when Nihang Surjit stabbed him in the neck three times with kirpan and seriously injured him. The injured Karmajit was taken to Cady Hospital in Amritsar where he died during treatment. Kulwant Singh, in-charge of Thana Kachcha-Pakka, said the accused Surjit has been produced before the court on Saturday. The kirpan used in the murder is yet to be recovered.
