Badminton star PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, and Tokyo Olympics silver medallist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu have joined the race for the BBC's Best Indian Woman Player of the Year award. The names of these players will be announced on Tuesday. Online voting for the award is open only till February 28. The winner is scheduled to be announced on March 28. The lifetime achievement award will go to a veteran woman player at the ceremony while the emerging woman player is also going to receive the emerging player award.

Sindhu has said that success does not come easily. It's not a few months, but the result of years of hard work. Every day by going through a process, you work hard to reach a point. Sindhu had won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics while has also been a silver winner at the Rio Olympics earlier.

Mirabai has spoken about this that it is a matter of pride to be included in the name of the award. The road to this success has been very difficult. She went into depression at the Rio Olympics due to not being able to lift properly. In the morning, for the preparation, she used to ask for a lift from a trucker and go to the training centre. The dream has come true after winning a medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
