JHANSI: For raping a little child two years ago, eight Jhansi Government Polytechnic students were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The special POCSO court sentenced each of the defendants to a total fine of Rs 30,000 on additional counts, half of which would be given to the rape victim.

According to Vijay Kumar Kushwaha, special public prosecutor under POCSO Act, all eight defendants have been found guilty of the horrific crime. He said, "They were tried under 11 sections, including sections 5/6, 9/10 of the POCSO Act. For this horrible crime, he said, "all the defendants have been awarded life imprisonment 'until their last breath'."

The primary defendant, Rohit Saini, together with Bharat Kumar and Sanjay Kushwaha, Dharmendra Sen, Monu Parya and Mayank Shivhare, Shailendra Nath Pathak, and Vipin Tiwari have all received sentences.
12 witnesses, including the survivor, her companion, and a sub-inspector, were heard during the trial in the court of special judge Nitendra Kumar Singh (ADJ 9 Rape and POCSO Act).

The DNA sample of the primary defendant, Rohit Saini, was matched and served as significant proof.
The incident happened on October 11, 2020, during the Covid epidemic, while the young girl and her friend were walking to school. The pair were dragged inside the hostel, which was mostly empty at the time, by the accused, who were all homeless as they went by the polytechnic on Gwalior Road. They beat the victim's friend in addition to raping her.

Sub-inspector Vikrant Singh, who was working at the Gwalior Road police outpost at the time of the event, just so happened to be walking by. He hurried to the girl's aid when he overheard her screams, saving her from further humiliation.

The culprit was recognised by images found on polytechnic entrance forms after the police filed a complaint. The accused were apprehended, taken to jail, and denied bail.

Kushwaha claims that the investigating officer (IO), Arvind Singh, delivered the charge sheet within a month.
Charges were first proposed in February 2022, and the evidence was finished in time for the normal hearing in August. The survivor's parents, on the other hand, claimed that their daughter was suffering from acute depression and had ceased leaving the house as a result of trauma following the occurrence.
