Pune: In Pune, Maharashtra, two persons posing as food inspectors extorted Rs 4.5 lakh from the hotel owner. But the police soon arrested both the fake food inspectors. The incident is from Baramati area on Pune-Solapur National Highway. Police said Prasad Kanchan, owner of Hotel Kanchan here, received a call on May 3.

The person who made the same call called himself a food inspector and said, "I am talking to the Mumbai ministry. A woman has got food poisoning after eating your hotel food. Legal action will have to be taken against you on the complaint of the woman and the license of the hotel will also have to be canceled. If you want to avoid this action, then you will have to pay Rs 5 lakh.

Hearing this, the owner of the hotel, Prasad Kanchan got scared and he agreed to give the money. The caller asked him to send money online and gave the account number. The owner of the hotel filled Rs 4 lakh 42 thousand online. Even though he paid Rs. But later he suspected something wrong. Immediately he complained to the police. The police registered a case and traced him from the mobile number of the criminal. The police reached the criminal and arrested him. Another person who was accompanying the criminal has also been arrested. Investigating officer Narayan Pawar said that at present both are being questioned. It is feared that in this way he may have cheated more people.
