RAE BARELI: In a shocking incident, a young man was set ablaze when he went to meet his girlfriend, said police.
The incident took place in the Sareni police circle's Moosapur village.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Alok Priyadarshi said the police had detected some more leads in the case during preliminary investigations.

"Ankit Mishra, the victim, has been admitted to the hospital and is in critical condition. The victim and the girl both live in the same village " he said.

As per reports, Ankit reportedly went to meet the girl late on Tuesday night. When the girl's family found out, they locked Ankit in a room.

"The boy was poured petrol and set ablaze after the family summoned other relatives. They ejected him from their home and began shouting that the victim had assaulted their home with a petrol bomb as he started to scream "a source said.

The locals gathered there and extinguished the fire. Ankit was subsequently taken to the hospital, and the police were notified.
